REHEARSED readings...
When a First Stage member's new play or screenplay is fully developed, First Stage offers a rehearsed reading for an audience. This is free for First Stage members and guests. At this event, the writer often gets to see his/her work performed for the first time in front of an (online) audience. First Stage actors are available to play the roles under the guidance of a First Stage director. However, writers may bring in their own guest directors and actors.
After the reading, there is a facilitated in-depth discussion of the play where audience members are asked to give feedback to the writer. In this way, the audience becomes a vital part of the First Stage experience, giving the authors valuable insights that help them refine their work. Writers have the option to record the reading on their own computers, with the caveat that the work cannot be shared or posted to any social media site (as a courtesy & protection for the participating actors).
