COLD READING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTORS
First Stage Tuesday Writers' Workshops provide an excellent opportunity for ACTORS to work on their cold reading skills. Writers submit material to the workshop producer the week prior to a workshop. The producer casts the roles from a roster of actors who have expressed a desire to participate in the workshops. Any dues paying actor members of First Stage get first priority to being cast. The producer makes every effort to cast the roles as closely as possible to the writers' specific vision in terms of casting standards (e.g. age range, race, etc.)
During the week prior to a workshop the producer will send scene material to the appropriate actors from the roster. Actors need to reply promptly acknowledging their receipt of the material and their confirmation of accepting the role. As the workshop is designed for the writers, there is no feedback given to the actors - only to the writer concerning the material presented. The actors get the first opportunity to provide their thoughts and reactions to the material (if they so desire) before the moderator solicits feedback from other writers and/or audience members in attendance.
First Stage also needs ACTORS for rehearsed staged readings of new works developed in our workshop throughout the year.
In addition to readings, The Writers' Workshop also provides the ACTORS with great networking opportunities.
Actors who wish to be added to our current roster should visit our CONTACT page and email us. Please indicate your desire to join our roster and include your standard casting profile.
First Stage is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to developing new works and is open to all.
